I have been a hairdresser for 30 years and I love my craft! I get to be a creative perfectionist with my Sassoon training. A precision bob and sculpted short hair are my favorites. Oribe Canales, Vidal Sassoon, and Vivienne Westwood are my biggest influences along with my amazing co-workers. I am working less and no longer taking new clients so that I can discover all the beautiful things my home state of Wisconsin has to offer and spend more time with my fur babies and gardens.
Holding it down since 1996
I first worked at a salon in New Zealand when I was in high school, just making coffee and doing shampoos. Took an apprenticeship at Cha Cha when I was on hiatus from university, and never left. I’ve continued to seek out education whenever possible, including traveling out to Bumble and Bumble, training with Crew and Deva Curl, and color classes with Davines and Wella. I more recently trained to become a microblading technician at the Advanced Permanent Cosmetics Academy.
I love color! Highlighting, balayage, blonding of all sorts. I also like to provide effortless cuts that suit a guest’s hair type when at all possible. I’m in love with wild, shaggy hair from the 60s, 70s and 80s, anything remotely resembling mullet, pixies, bangs, the more rock and roll, the better.
My self-care routine consists of child rearing, dog walking, volleyball and pumping iron.

I thought about doing hair from a young age and learned to cut hair at Cha Cha because of one of my best friends and lovely co-workers got me in the door about 15 years ago. Cutting hair gives me a creative outlet and I really enjoy talking with people. Sorry, we are going to talk.
I like doing short, men’s classic and modern style. Things I love (other than hair) are bikes, playing music, beer, and painting. My biggest inspirations are sweet jams, great friends, good times and people around me who are enjoying life, creating, and having success.
I leave you with this inspiring quote…”Seven day weekend, up all night, in at the deep end, hang on tight, won’t take a minute, it won’t take long, so get on it, come on, c’mon, c’mon. Let’s get, let’s get, let’s get, let’s get ROCKED” – Def Leppard
I’ve lived in Madison for almost 10 years by way of Janesville. I moved initially because of my love for this city and the opportunities it provides. In my time here I’ve found great people, a beautiful city, and a great workplace in Cha Cha!
I learned to cut hair at Cha Cha and wouldn’t have it any other way. It started for me as a curiosity, unhappy with my previous job and branching out from there. Wanting something creatively and socially satisfying I reached out to Shelly, and worked to learn from her and my other co-workers to pursue a position as a barber. I enjoy doing barber style cuts, whether it’s a taper or fade, or a looser blended shaggier style.
Cutting hair is a fun collaborative process between me and my clients. We get to know and trust each other from the consultation, and trek onward to achieve their desired cut. With that I really love getting to be creative as well as converse and learn from one another.
Aside from cutting hair, a lot of my time is spent writing music with my bandmates in Bereft. We’ve been playing together as a band for several years, touring on occasion, and writing albums.
While working behind the scenes at fashion shows in Los Angeles, I was inspired to obtain my cosmetology degree. When I am behind the chair, I utilize my artistic ability while working with a client to design a comprehensive look that suits their image and needs. I enjoy doing all types of haircuts and color and have even developed a bit of a reputation for well executed curly haircuts.
When I’m not behind the chair, I enjoy repairing and riding vintage mopeds as well as creating art. More recently my art has grown to include hair art and sculpture; which has been showcased in Hair Affair runway fundraisers at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art in downtown Madison.

I moved to Madison in 2012 for school and never left. After doing my own hair forever, I decided I actually wanted to know what I was doing and am lucky to learn everything at Cha Cha. I most enjoy working on long blondes, and get inspiration from 70s and 80s babes and editorial hair styles. Outside of Cha Cha I love knitting/crocheting, watching The X-Files, and 90s music.

Since moving to Madison after high school, I always wanted to work at Cha Cha. I would ride my skateboard past and look in and was just in awe of the salon. Fast forward to a few years later, and an apprenticeship opened up at Cha Cha. I applied for the position as fast as I could and quit my job two days later and the rest is history. Now I am the Front Desk Extraordinaire and take care of all of our client and employee needs.
In my free time I like to garden, tinker in my yard, check out the local music scene and I love spending time with my dogs. Whether it’s taking them on long walks around the neighborhood or on country drives, our little adventures are always fun. I recently got back into reading, and read Harry Potter for the first time and fell in love with it. I’m always looking for new book recommendations!
